B'ville: A lesson from across the Atlantic

Teacher Deborah Drain and her third-grade students at Elden Elementary School have been corresponding with a group of students in Germany this year. The two groups of students have been exchanging items that reinforce each one's native language as well as provide cultural information. For example, the German students created an Advent calendar for Drain's students. Beneath each little door on the calendar are a German word and its English word, providing the Elden students with a mini language lesson each day. The Elden students will be sending their German friends bookmarks and other small items to teach them English words. This is the third year that Drain's students have corresponded with students in Germany.
