SKANEATELES: 'Going green' discussion, hamlet meeting canceled

Due to inclement weather, St. James Earthworks Ministry and the Skaneateles Chapter of the American Association of University Women have canceled a panel discussion scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Skaneateles Central School District office.

The discussion, "Skaneateles is Going Green," had been planned to give insight into local environmental initiatives.

The panel was to include Mayor Bob Green, town Codes Enforcement Officer Debbie Williams, custodial coordinator of the Skaneateles school system Elaine MacLachlan and a representative from the Skaneateles High School Environmental Club.

Also scheduled for this evening was a hamlet meeting at the Mottville Fire Department sponsored and led by the Skaneateles Town Board. Supervisor Terri Roney said just before noon the board has also canceled its meeting due to inclement weather and the possibility of a weak turn out.

"We have not set a future date at this point," she said.

The board had planned to hold discussions regarding the Stauffer Chemical cleanup along with other concerns residents have regarding the town.

Roney said the board may discuss rescheduling the meeting at its March 4 meeting to be held at Town Hall, 24 Jordan St.
