Memphis man to run for US Congress

Mark Bitz of Memphis, the former owner and CEO of Plainville Farms in Baldwinsville, will formally announce his candidacy for United State Congress at a news conference held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday Feb. 24, at the Stickley Factory in Manlius.

Bitz, 50, has never run for public office before. In addition to being the former owner and CEO of Plainville Farms, he is also the founder of Central New York Feeds and co-founder of Central New York Crops. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and a master of science degree from Cornell University.

Bitz is seeking to unseat Democratic incumbent Dan Maffei in the 25th Congressional District, which includes Onondaga and Wayne counties, and parts of Monroe and Cayuga counties.
