Haiti fundraising at Elden

Because they wanted to help Haitian earthquake victims, Gabrielle Blais, left, Alyssa Jenkins, second from left, Ellyn Gibbs, second from right, Mason Smith, right, and Mackenzie Bruen (not pictured), students at Elden Elementary School, began a fundraising effort at the school. To promote the fundraising they developed the slogan "Help Haiti Smile," and it was the group's idea to collect loose change in a large jug during lunches. They are also coordinating a "Hats for Haiti" day at the school. Students and staff can wear a hat in school on Feb. 26 when they donate a dollar. Elden will be giving all of the money it collects to the American Red Cross.
