The Chittenango Lion's Club is offering free eye screening for children up to six years of age at this year's Community Showcase sponsored by the Greater Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce.
Members of the Lion's Club have been specially trained to detect vision disorders in young children. A Welch Allyn Vision Screener tales only five seconds to screen for near and farsightedness, astigmatism, and anisometropia. Parents must sign a consent form for the screening.
The Lion's Club has been a leader in helping individuals receive glasses that otherwise couldn't afford them. This screening can help identify, and with follow-up, correct vision problems before children enter school.
The Community Showcase will be held March 6, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chittenango High School gymnasium. Over 50 businesses and organizations will give away information and prizes as well as provide entertainment throughout the day. Don't miss the second annual pie contest, free ice cream, games and activities by the Town of Sullivan and $100 to one lucky person attending the Showcase. Admission and parking are free.
