Many churches have an evening service with a rerun of the morning service for people who don't like to get up early. But, there's something different happening at a little church on Stiles Road near the Seneca Knolls area of Baldwinsville.
At 6:30 p.m. every Sunday evening at Christ Community United Methodist Church, they hold a "Grace and Healing Praise Service."
This service is filled with up-beat positive music that's sure to get you on your feet and slow meaningful songs that will open your heart to what church is really all about. A variety of people take turns giving a short message each week. Sometimes the message is wrapped in a testimony given by someone who's been where you've been or even where you are now.
A time for healing prayers for bodies, minds and lives is offered at the conclusion of each Sunday night service. You can choose to stay for that or join others in Fellowship Hall for social time.
The band Grace Alone leads the service, which began 10 years ago as an alternative service for people who enjoyed an upbeat, expressive worship style. The band plays a variety of contemporary praise music and the words to the songs are displayed on a large screen to encourage anyone who wants to participate.
