With stars in most of the disciplines, the Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field team set out to conquer the field during last Tuesday night's Section III Class AA championship meet. And it almost worked.
The Bees put up 71 points, enough to get past everyone -- except Liverpool, whose all-around work netted 114 points and the AA title. Corcoran was third with 57 points.
Brian Kane resumed high jump battle with Henninger's Cole King and won again, Kane clearing 6 feet 4 inches, two inches better than King. Kane also got fifth in the long jump, going 18 feet 10 1/2 inches.
Andrew Hoover was victorious in the 55-meter hurdles, edging Liverpool's Joe Spernyak, 8.23 seconds to 8.24, while Rudy Sapp gained second place in the 55-meter dash in 6.72 seconds and Todd Mitchell was fourth in 6.94 seconds.

The B'ville girls team earned seven points during its sectional AA meet on Feb. 3, most of them from Laura Farleman clearing 4 feet 10 inches to tie for third in the high jump.
Aubrey Francis, Shannon Hines, Alyssa Hingre and Abby Nelson were sixth in the 4x400 relay in 4:28.90. Ashley Shaheen, Julia Johnson, Jaimee Balloni and Lindsay Varga had a sixth-place time of 10:31 flat in the 4x800. Sierra Earle was seventh in the shot put, with Varga seventh in the 1,000, both of them just missing points.
B'ville will participate this week in the pair of CNY Counties League championship meets -- the girls on Monday, the boys on Wednesday.
