Meals on Wheels of Syracuse, Inc., needs volunteers to deliver meals to homebound meal recipients and/or help package meals in its kitchen on Presidents Day, Monday Feb. 15. If you have the day off from work Meals on Wheels needs you. We need volunteer help from 8 to 11 a.m. in the kitchen or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. driving a route or serving meals to the homes of meal recipients along with a driver.
Meals on Wheels is often preparing and delivering meals on holidays where individuals may have time off from work. "If you are someone who would like to help Meals on Wheels but, your work schedule does not allow, consider giving a few hours of your time on days like Presidents Day, Columbus Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, the days before and after Christmas or New Year's Eve. It's a great time for you and your family to help a good cause," notes Jeff Banta, Volunteer Coordinator.
To volunteer or for information about volunteering contact Jeff Banta at 478-5948 ext. 213 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meals on Wheels of Syracuse was established as the fourth chapter of Meals on Wheels in the United States in 1959. The program is committed to administering nourishing meals to the homebound: seniors; people with disabilities; nutritionally at-risk individuals and people recovering from accident and illness.
With the help of volunteers, over 200,000 meals are served to 900 of our homebound neighbors annually. With projections pointing to continue growth of the senior population, we anticipate a growing demand for home delivered meals in the years to come.
