North Syracuse Family Festival welcomes Skaneateles band

It is with great pleasure that the North Syracuse Family Festival announces the return of the Skaneateles Community Band to the Festival held Saturday May 29. They will play an assortment of music during the festival and at opening ceremonies in Lonergan Park, Route 11 behind the former Goldbergs.

The Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce tells us that the Skaneateles Community Band was 'Founded in 1983 by the late Howard Kelley and his wife Gayle and continues to provide summer concerts. The band has grown in size and talent and is now recognized as one of the outstanding community bands in the area. The Skaneateles Community Band performs on Friday evenings during July and August in a Norman Rockwell setting at the gazebo by Skaneateles Lake. The music ranges from pop to marches to show tunes to light classical. The band also plays concerts at the New York State Fair and other venues in Upstate New York, including the North Syracuse Family Festival. The band's musical director, Dr. Philip Krasicky of Cornell University, welcomes everyone to come and enjoy Americana at its best, an old fashion concert in the park while relaxing to a variety of beautiful music.

Everyone in North Syracuse should keep the festival date of May 29 in mind and plan to participate in the festival and listen to the outstanding Skaneateles Community Band. Some of the forty or fifty band members come from as far as 200 miles to play for us. Please plan to come welcome the Skaneateles Band as they open the Festival.
