Commentary: "Sanctity of Life"

The blessing of God is seen here on earth in our enjoyment of his creation (Psalm 4:7; Acts 14:17; 1 Timothy 6:17). It is also seen in our dominion over the rest of his creation: not only are we to rule over our personal lives, we are to have dominion in our families, in the church, in the marketplace, in civil government (Genesis 1:28). "This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith" (1 John 5:4).

Human life mirrors, magnifies, and manifests God. We ought to revere it even as the Lord does, by protecting and defending the innocent and helpless. The sanctity of human life is something that we, as Christians, must take very seriously and preserve very rigorously. We can take a stand against abortion and euthanasia by voting our values but, more importantly, we can pray, preach, and teach others the Good News of the Gospel that drives home the utter value that God places on human life. He has set before us a choice between life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19).
