Manlius Police make arrest in theft of charity funds

Investigators with the town of Manlius Police Department last week arrested Jeffrey McMillan, 44, of 135 Coolidge Ave. in Syracuse, on a charge of petit larceny and 22 counts of unlawful possession of personal identification information in the third degree, in relation to a theft that occurred at a Manlius accounting firm.

McMillan had been employed by a local cleaning company and was working at the accounting firm when he allegedly stole a box containing cash, checks and credit card receipts. The proceeds found in the box had come from a recent fundraiser benefit for the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation in Fayetteville.

McMillan was arraigned in the town of Manlius Court and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center on $250 cash or bond bail.

The town of Manlius Police Department was able to recover the stolen proceeds and believe that no personal information was compromised.
