Camillus police seek help in suspicious package incident

The Camillus Police Department is investigating an incident involving a suspicious package found on Route 5 near the Home Depot that caused the stretch of road to be closed for hours Monday afternoon.

Camillus Police detectives are attempting to identify a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, approximately 5' 10". He was last seen wearing a black watch cap, a tan or gray micro fiber jacket or hoodie, dark colored pants and winter footwear. The suspect was observed walking eastbound on Route 5 near the Home Depot at around 5 a.m. carrying a green hard side military style case.

An early 1990s gold Saturn four door was observed parked on Route 5 in the immediate area.

Camillus Police detectives are requesting public assistance. Anyone who was on Route 5 near the Home Depot or Hinsdale Road between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m., and may have observed the suspect or vehicle, is asked to call the Camillus Police Department at 487-0102. All calls will be kept confidential.
