Helping Hounds was founded in January 2009 with the rescue of a family of beagles from a Southern high-kill shelter. Since then, Helping Hounds has found forever homes for over 900 homeless dogs. While Helping Hounds rescues many hound-type breeds from the South, the organization will often take in other breeds from other regions - and dogs range in age from puppy to senior.
"As a local non-profit organization, Helping Hounds relies heavily on donations and support from our community. We hope that the holiday season will inspire people to help us find homes for these dogs, whether it's by adopting one or supporting our mission," said founder Karen Kukla.
