WCNY has added sponsors to the live televised New Year's Eve event celebrating the good news of Central New York. The Party, WCNY's New Year Celebration will be held Friday, Dec. 31 at the Oncenter Ballroom in Syracuse.
Green Homes America by Entherm is the presenting sponsor for WCNY's first annual New Year's Eve event, which features live music by the popular regional band Atlas, delicious food, open bar, a champagne toast at midnight, and video tributes of individuals, non-profit organizations, and major corporations whose 2010 accomplishments have made a difference in the lives of many Central New Yorkers. Other sponsors include Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, King + King Architects, Scolaro, Shulman, Cohen, Fetter & Burstein, P.C., St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse University and the Salt District of the Near Westside, and Upstate Medical University Hospital.
"Our event does indeed benefit WCNY, but that's where any resemblance to a fundraiser ends," said Robert J. Daino, President and CEO of WCNY. "The Party will have no speeches or awards...just a chance to celebrate the New Year, and video tributes that feature some of the great accomplishments in Central New York during 2010."
The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and ends at 12:30 a.m. Coverage starts at 8:30 p.m., and the full live broadcast starts at 11 p.m. on WCNY 24.1/Time Warner 850/Verizon 11. Tickets for the event cost $135 per person and include delicious food, open bar, and a champagne toast at
midnight. Tickets are now on sale and reservations can be made by calling WCNY's Special Events Department at 453-2424 or online at
