Captain Kyle Van Dingstee graduates flight school

Captain Kyle P. Van Dingstee of Skaneateles was promoted to the rank of Captain on July 1. He next graduated from the US Army Flight School, Rotary Wing Aviator Course at Fort Rucker, Alabama on July 8.

During the 18-month flight school, Captain Van Dingstee trained to fly the US Army UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter and will be a MEDEVAC pilot assigned to the US Army Medical Corps.

Captain Van Dingstee is stationed in Lunstuhl, Germany assigned to C Company 2/14th General Aviation Service Brigade Medical Battalion.

He is an 2002 graduate of Hebron Academy, Hebron, Maine, 06 graduate of Plymouth State University, Plymouth NH and has been an officer in the US Army since January 2007.

Captain Van Dingstee is the son of Michael and Elaine Van Dingstee also of Skaneateles. Michael said his son is settling into Germany, but also does expect to be deployed to Afghanistan at the end of the year.

"We are very proud of him," Michael said.
