Police Chief David Amico retires

Police Chief David J. Amico is retiring after 12 years as village of Cazenovia police chief.

The village board passed a resolution honoring Amico for his service at a board meeting last week.

"The village of Cazenovia is grateful for the services of retiring Police Chief David J. Amico," said Mayor Thomas Dougherty.

The mayor acknowledged Amico's hard work as an officer.

"The chief's skills as a police officer have aided the village in countless ways," he said. "The safety and concerns of the village of Cazenovia residents have always been his top priority."

The mayor said Amico's knowledge of police work and ability to teach and train officers has earned him admiration from his peers. Amico will further his teaching career at SUNY Morrisville.

"The Board of Trustees wish him happiness and success as he starts his new career in the education field," Dougherty said.
