Young Eagles soar over Skaneateles

A total of 16 kids from the Dunbar Center in Syracuse plus staff members and three civil air patrol cadets went for a ride on Saturday July 24 as part of the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles program.

This EEA program started in 1993 with the purpose of introducing one million youth to flight by 2003, the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brother's first flight.

The program has been continued and to date over 1,500,000 youth ages 8 to 17 have taken advantage of the free program.

Skaneateles pilot Jack Haggerty, local young eagle coordinator, thanks local pilots Bill Bush, Bob Williams, Jim English and David Lee for all their efforts.
