Puppy stolen from Canastota kennel

A Manlius family is desperately searching for their black lab puppy, Max after he was stolen from a local kennel on April 21.

John and Darcy Cavalline dropped Max and Sophie, their chocolate lab, off at Blue Ribbon Kennels in Canastota on April 16 before heading to Florida on vacation.

On April 21, they received a phone call from the kennel's owner, Jeff Aquino, stating that Max had been taken while staff were on a lunch break. Between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., someone apparently jumped the fence and took Max, leaving Sophie alone on the run they shared. The front door was left open.

No other dogs, property or money was taken.

The Cavalline family has since returned home from Florida, and with the help of local news stations, is spreading the word about Max. There is a reward of $1,000 for his return; half of which was put up by Jeff Aquino.

Max is a 5-month-old black lab puppy, weighing approx. 50 lbs., with a small patch of white fur on his chest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Darcy Cavalline at 682-1785 or 263-8315.
