Northrup named LHS Senior of the Week

This week's Liverpool High School Senior of the Week, Zachary Northrup, is an engineering standout.

Northrup's engineering experience includes four years as a lead programmer in robotics, Off-Season Robotics and two years in the JETS/Engineering Club, which also includes volunteer work. His favorite class at LHS is biotech with Mr. Richard Baier.

The LHS senior works as a magazine merchandiser at Nichol's and as a self-employed software developer.

His greatest influences include Douglas Adams and Bill Gates. Northrup said these are influential people because of "Adams' humored view of life and Gates for his success in software." He said he admires both for their intelligence.

Northrup, a National Merit winner, aspires to be a self-employed engineer. Aside from engineering hobbies, Northrup has interests in Web development and music composition.
