It's been 30 years since John and Lynette Sorbello opened their flower and produce business, Sorbello's. Still going strong, they have now expanded to open a new gift and garden center on their property next to Sorbello's.
With the shaky economy, "people tend to stick close to home," said John. "They stay home and work on their landscaping. That's where we come in."
After a year of construction, the Sorbello's celebrated with a grand opening, held on April 24 and 25.
The new building features Pride of New York products, gift baskets, candles, glassware and handmade items.
"We are thrilled to open for the season with so many new and exciting things to offer our customers," said Sorbello.
Right now, a spring/garden theme is featured in the shop, but the theme will change seasonally. Garden products will include planting containers, seeds, gardening tools and more; giftware will include salsas, jellies, jams, peanut butter and honey, all products of New York State. Other gift items featured are home d (c)cor products and hand creams. Customers will also be able to create personalized gift baskets featuring products from the shop.
Along with the food and garden products, the Sorbello's will also be hosting a variety of educational seminars and events; including a hands-on Mother's Day event for children, in which kids will be taught basic gardening while potting flowers for their mothers.
Sorbello's is a seasonal business; open from April to Dec. featuring plants, shrubs, pumpkins and Christmas trees. For information about Sorbello's, customers may contact John or Lynette at 687-0021
