New pastor at B'ville Faith Baptist

Members of Faith Baptist Church in Baldwinsville announce the calling of Rev. John Stevenson as senior pastor.

Stevenson and his wife, Roberta, arrived in town at the end of March and began their ministry immediately.

Faith Baptist Church, established 42 years ago, is the home of Baldwinsville Christian Academy.

Rev. Stevenson, who prefers to be called Pastor John, has a varied background. He was an elementary school teacher for seven years in New Jersey, then served as a missionary in Japan and the Philippines for 28 years starting new churches and teaching. He has since been the pastor at churches on Long Island and in western Pennsylvania for the past six years.

The Stevensons have five grown children, two of whom live overseas, and they have 11 grandchildren, one of whom was born this April.

"After many years in ministry, literally around the world, my greatest joy in life is still the same: preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ, and teaching His Word," said Pastor John.

The Sunday morning worship at Faith Baptist Church, located on Van Buren Road south of Route 690, is at 11 a.m. and visitors are welcome.
