B'ville: Caring Kids make a difference

The Caring Kids Committee at Reynolds Elementary has been busily supporting local organizations, as well as other groups, with service projects throughout this school year. The new group is made up of students in third, fourth and fifth grade and is part of the school's character education program.

The Caring Kids Committee coordinated a school-wide collection of snack packs, wrapped candy, cookies and toiletries that they donated to the hospitality room at Hancock International Airport for military personnel who are being deployed or returning from deployment. They also sponsored a collection of food, kitty litter, towels and blankets for the animals at the Humane Association of CNY.

In response to the earthquake in Haiti, the group collected change to aid in the relief efforts. P.S. 11, an elementary school in the Bronx, was recently the recipient of numerous gently used and new chapter books and age appropriate graphic novels that Reynolds' students donated under the supervision of the Caring Kids Committee.

The Caring Kids Committee at Reynolds Elementary organized a school-wide collection of items for the Humane Association of CNY.
