Clean Up Oneida Day' set for May 1

On Saturday, May 1st Oneida will be sponsoring the first annual "Clean-Up Oneida Day" on Saturday, May 1.

The event is being coordinated by the City Clerk Sue Pulverenti and Water Maintenance Supervisor Jim Chamberlain.

The City will provide volunteers with reflective vests and gloves, if needed. Trash bags will be provided and can be left on the side of the road when full and the city employees will dispose of them.

Mayor Leo Matzke stated "Clean-up Oneida Day" is an opportunity for our city to participate in Earth Day, a holiday set aside to remind all of us that we have a responsibility to take care of our planet. I encourage everyone to get involved in some way; certainly joining us on May 1st would be great.

The plan is to meet at City Hall at 9 a.m. to pass out the vests, gloves, etc. and to assign different groups a different locations.

Anyone who would like to volunteer, should call the City Clerk's office at 363-7378.
