Weagraff to attend Williamsburg Teacher Institute
Kathryn Weagraff, a social studies teacher at Baker High School, has received a scholarship to attend the 2010 Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute this summer. The intensive, weeklong educational opportunity immerses teachers in American history, where history was made, in Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Teachers have the opportunity to work with museum staff and interpreters, analyze primary sources and take part in historic simulations to enrich their teaching.
Penhollow to participate in Global Climate Change Education Institute
Mark Penhollow, a science teacher at Baker High School, has been selected to participate in the project-based Global Climate Change Education Institute, which will be held this summer at Clarkson University. Participants were selected based on their professionalism and demonstrated commitment to teaching environmental and earth science. Penhollow will participate in several climate change learning activities including the use of NASA's earth science databases to develop lessons for his students for the 2010-11 school year.
