Vince's, ARC partner for education

Vince's Gourmet Imports announces that it is offering a community outreach program to benefit school organizations.

Teaming up with Madison-Cortland ARC, the program will raise money for educational activities and at the same time employ people with disabilities.

As a growing company that appreciates the local customer base, Vince's Gourmet wanted to find a way to help organizations that need to fundraise.

"The great thing about this program is that it delivers quality food at reasonable prices. This allows the people buying the product to benefit while the organization raises much needed funds. In this economy, budget shortfalls are leaving the school organizations with deficits. Our intent is to help while introducing new people to our store," said Sam Mondello, co-owner of Vince's Gourmet.

The concept was concocted when Mondello was helping out on his school's Parent Teacher Association. They were looking for new fundraisers and he had the idea to use their homemade sauce to make something everyone likes: pizza. Vince's homemade meals were already a big hit -- especially with families that didn't have time to cook because of busy schedules. So, Mondello set out to find ways to package their high quality ingredients to make a good Italian pizza. The glitch was having enough help to create the kits in a short timeframe and having the freezer space to store the kits until delivery.

When researching packaging, he was connected with Alternatives Industry, a subsidiary of Madison-Cortland ARC. They were the missing ingredient. They had the expertise to put it all together and the facilities to solve the issue of storage space.

Mondello arranged to transfer the ingredients and packaging, and Alternatives at Madison-Cortland ARC produces the kits, stores them in the freezer and even delivers to the school for distribution. Mondello was pleasantly surprised to find out that the services are affordable which was important to keep the prices reasonable and maximize the profit for the school organizations. When he learned about ARC's mission, it was an added benefit because the organization is contributing to making the community a better place themselves.
