Two Syracuse companies partner to collect 60,000 pounds of e-waste by Earth Day April 22
Two Syracuse-based companies have partnered to set a goal of collecting 60,000 pounds of e-waste by Earth Day on April 22. CXtec(r), a global provider of certified pre-owned and new data networking and voice equipment that has helped customers reduce the cost of their technology infrastructure for more than three decades, and TERACAI', a Cisco Silver Partner that helps its customers build, manage and optimize core networking, communication and data center solutions, are collecting and recycling the e-waste using their Green Cube' recycling container service.
Green Cubes are a convenient way for companies to dispose of and recycle unwanted IT equipment. A Green Cube can fit up to 1,000 pounds of e-waste, such as computers, monitors, printers, telephone gear, fax machines, network gear, servers, PoS equipment and more. Once filled, the Green Cube is returned and users receive a certificate of recycling and/or data destruction that ensures asset security.
The program helps companies from all industries avoid space issues, safety violations and security concerns.
Although discarding unwanted IT equipment often raises questions about sensitive data and adherence to environmental regulations, the Green Cube service utilizes equipment sanitization and secure data destruction processes that meet and exceed federal regulations.
From now until April 22, CXtec and TERACAI are offering a 10 percent discount on all Green Cube orders to help reach their goal of collecting 60,000 pounds of e-waste by Earth Day. More than 11,000 pounds of e-waste has already been collected.
On April 22, there will be an "Earth Day e-vent" at CXtec and TERACAI. Employees will be invited to bring their own personal e-waste into work to fill as many Green Cubes as possible. To view the live recycling efforts of CXtec and TERACAI employees on April 22, a webcam will be available at www.cxtec.com/earthday. It is also the official "Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day."
"We are very excited to welcome the children of CXtec and TERACAI employees to join us at work during our eco-friendly Earth Day e-vent," said Barbara Ashkin, chief operating officer, CXtec and TERACAI. "We anticipate that our employees will bring in a lot of e-waste for safe and secure disposal, and we look forward to having the kids here to participate in the day."
