B'ville: Reynolds students read 28,000 books

During Reynolds Elementary School's recent 12-week PARP program, students in grades kindergarten through fifth read a school total of more than 28,000 books.

Each year the PARP program, sponsored and coordinated by the school's PTA, encourages students to read with a parent or other adult each night for at least 15 minutes to strengthen reading fluency and comprehension, as well as to develop a love for reading. The theme this year was "Wild About Reading."

Students celebrated their success with a party at the end of the program.

The following students were the top readers for their grade:

Kindergarten -- Tanner Lotito, Ben Slavik and Emma Warren

First grade -- Joshua Petragnani, Elijah Pyle and Kyle Rogers

Second grade -- John Burns, Allyson Howard-Green and Madelyn Shuler

Third grade -- Madison Ascioti, Cooper Pyle and Matt Starczewski

Fourth grade -- Cameron Beckley, Erica Monaco and Austin Wolf

Fifth grade -- Lyndsey Slavik, Michele Miller and Rebecca St. Amand
