Former Lysander coach faces charges

New York State Police arrested James Stocker, 50, of Baldwinsville charging him with four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Stocker, the former assistant coach of the Lysander Lightning Girls Hockey Team for the 2009-10 season, is accused of entering the girls' locker room on numerous occasions as the girls were in various stages of undressing. Police say Stocker compelled players to undress in his presence and made inappropriate comments to the girls.

Four girls from the team, which has players ranging from 14 to 16 years old, provided depositions to the state police, resulting in four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Stocker was asked to resign when allegations first came to light.

State Police arrested Stocker April 11 and charged him. He was released and issued an appearance ticket for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday April 21 at the Town of Lysander Court.
