Confident from two opening-week wins, the Cazenovia boys tennis team met its toughest test of the young season — and passed it.
The Lakers went up against Christian Brothers Academy last Monday afternoon and, mostly relying on its doubles play, beat the Brothers 3-2.
In straight sets, Sam Concilla and Lee Cudney toppled Ash Kumani and Danny Mantooth 6-3, 6-2, while Jon Kryger and Crozer Conner also needed just two sets in a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Joel Castellini and Dave Mullen.
Over in singles, Nick Christakos got shut out in the second set, but recovered to earn the clinching point as he beat Alex Ojugbeli 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Jon Cipiti lost to Matt Nardella and Chris Rogers took a 6-1, 6-3 defeat to Colin Nardella.
