DMS fourth-graders visit Mountain Man

Students in Suzanne Alexander's and Janine Snyder's fourth grade classes at Driver Middle School got a special "syrupy" treat as they visited the Mountain Man Maple Syrup Farm on Saturday March 13. The teachers, students, and families arrived at the farm at 11 a.m. and were greeted by farm owners Peter and Cindy Estlinbaum.

The Estlinbaums demonstrated the process of tapping a maple tree and "showed the large 850 gallon stainless steel collection tank." The group then ventured out in small groups to the sugar shack and into the "caboose" where the final stage of bottling the maple syrup takes place.
