North Syracuse Universal Pre-K registration to begin

Registration for the North Syracuse Central School District Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2010-11 school year begins May 3.

On May 3 registration will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the NSCSD Transportation Department offices, 5520 East Taft Road, North Syracuse.

After May 3, registration will take place at the Jerome F. Melvin Administrative Offices between the same hours.

When registering, please bring your child's birth certificate, immunization records, last physical, and proof of residency (National Grid bill, OCWA bill or phone bill).

UPK is funded by a state grant and is for children who will be four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2010.

The purpose of the program is to provide all of our four-year-olds with the chance to attend a quality preschool program that prepares them for school. UPK is a half-day program, which runs five days per week.

Children are assigned to either a morning or afternoon session. Sessions run on the same time schedule as our present kindergarten program and follow our school calendar. If you have any questions regarding the program, call Dan Bowles at 218-2147.
