Canton Woods: Food Sense bargain shopping

Canton Woods Senior Center will offer the following Food Sense package at a cost of $15.50 for the month of April:

One pound each of meatballs, chicken breast, Italian sausage, ground turkey (Italian), spaghetti, spaghetti sauce and green beans; 12 oz. veal patties; 26 oz. French fries; one each dessert item; and two fresh produce items.

In addition to the monthly package listed above, interested parties can elect to purchase any of the following specials in any quantity:

    Sirloin beef tips, 2 pounds for $9

Chicken tenders, 10 pounds for $14

Hot pockets, 12-8 oz. sandwiches for $17

Tilapia Fillets, 2.5 pounds for $12

Turkey burgers, 3 pounds for $5

Pork sirloin roast, 2 for $5.25

Packages can be ordered through Canton Woods and the order deadline is 11:30 a.m. April 12. All ages and income levels are eligible to participate in the Food Sense program. Packages will be ready for pick up at 12:45 p.m. April 21. Canton Woods cannot hold any packages after the scheduled pick-up time, so if you have a conflict, give your receipt to a friend and they may claim the package for you. If you have any questions, speak with a site volunteer when you sign up. Canton Woods Senior Center is located at 76 Canton St. in Baldwinsville. B'ville Express

If you were a senior and lost your license or ability to drive, what would you do?

One pleasant solution to the problem is the B'ville Express. Volunteer drivers will take seniors in the Baldwinsville area to doctors, pharmacies, grocery stores, the post office, banks and to Canton Woods Senior Center.

If you have exhausted all your options, try B'ville Express, but consider asking your relatives and friends first as resources are limited. If you are interested in driving for the B'ville Express or using the service, call Judy Laurange at Canton Woods Senior Center, 638-0097.
