Manlius Police arrest Georgia man in burglary

A Georgia man has been arrested in connection with an April 4 home invasion burglary.

At approximately 5 p.m., Mark A Rolland, 43, of Macon, Ga., entered a home in the Wildwood Ridge Apartment complex and confronted an 82-year-old woman.

According to police officials, he forced the woman into a bathroom while he searched the apartment for money. Moments later, the woman's 92-year-old husband entered the apartment and confronted Rolland in the family room where a brief struggle ensued. The husband was knocked to the floor after he struck Rolland with a broom handle he had managed to take away from the assailant. The husband was transported to the hospital after experiencing chest pains.

Rolland was arrested by the town of Manlius Police Department and charged with burglary in the second degree, robbery in the third degree and petit larceny. He was held on $250,000 bail.

An associate of Rolland's, Laquishia R. Spivey, 21, also of Macon, Ga., was arrested by the town of DeWitt Police Department and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree in connection with stolen license plates on the vehicle operated by the couple.

The investigation is continuing at this time.
