News from Marcellus Parks and Recreation

The Recreation phone has been very busy this month taking reservations for pavilion rentals in Marcellus Park. People have been renting for family reunions, graduation parties, weddings, business functions and class reunions. Some weekends are already booked. Last year we added the Playground Pavilion. This popular pavilion is family friendly (no alcohol or smoking allowed). With the a grant from the Olde Home Days Committee we recently put in electrical outlets. We also will be opening up the renovated Welcome Center. The Welcome Center has a small kitchen area, seating for 30-40 people, plus an outside patio with 2 picnic tables and a fire box. The Welcome Center is a year-round facility for small functions such as birthday parties, bridal and baby showers and small family parties.

There will also be a newly remodeled handicap bathroom. We have several bookings already for this summer.

The 2010 One Day Trip Packets are now available at the Town Hall, Village Office, PEACE Luncheon and Marcellus Library. Our first trip will take place on Wednesday May 26th. We will be traveling to Niagara Falls to hop aboard the Maid of the Mist. We will enjoy lunch at the Top of the Falls Restaurant and then tour Niagara Falls State Park in the comfort of the Niagara Falls Scenic Trolley. Registration for this trip ends on April 16 and is filling up quickly.

Our yearly overnight trip for 2010 will be to beautiful Vermont. The trip will take place September 14 through Sept. 17. This 4 day, 3 night adventure is open to all area adults. Some of the highlights include a tour of the Ben & Jerry Ice Cream Factory, as well as a visit to Green Mountain Coffee, a boat ride and much more. Great lunches and dinners are included, too. Please call the Recreation Office at 673-3269 ext.2 for more information or visit our website to download a registration form at marcellusny.com.

The Town Hall is located at 24 E. Main St. Marcellus and is open 9 a.m through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
