Christian Brothers Academy’s boys track and field team has, with the addition of a few key pieces, gone from a bottom-feeder in the OHSL Liberty division to a team with a chance to win the league title. The Brothers improved its league mark to 6-0 Wednesday afternoon, fighting past Westhill 75-66 and nearly doubling Jordan-Elbridge’s point total in a 95-48 win. Tre Williams almost brought CBA the sweep by his own efforts. He won the 200-meter dash in 23.2 seconds and long jump by going 20 feet 10 1/2 inches, while also prevailing in the triple jump and high jump. In support, Matt Giannino took the 400-meter dash in 54.4 seconds and won the 800-meter run (2:03.5), while Amani Jackson and John Dunmore both hit the line in the 100-meter dash in 11.4 seconds. CBA’s girls team lost to Westhill 74-58 and J-E by a 98-42 margin, despite Betty Etheredge going 15 feet 5 1/2 inches in the long jump and 33 feet 4 inches in the triple jump. Katie Brislin took the 1,500-meter run (5:19) and helped the Brothers’ 4×800 relay team prevail in 10:32.6. East Syracuse-Minoa had some close meets, splitting on the girls side by beating Fulton 86-55 but losing to Homer in an 82-59 decision. Cara Andrianos was first in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.3, while Meghan Visser ran the 3,000 in 11:51.7. Chelsea Medler won both the shot put (27 feet 5 1/4 inches) and discus (77 feet 4 inches) before it was done. The ESM boys lost tight decisions to Homer 73-68 and Fulton 79-63. Christian Larrabee got first in the 400-meter dash (53.3 seconds) and Craig Andrianos ran the 800 in 2:05.1, with Mike Coogan taking the 3,200 in 10:48 flat.
