Once again, Canastota girls track and field star Allison Lasnicki would put together a series of top efforts in a four-day span during the April school break. It all started Wednesday, at the Tully Spring Break Invitational. The University of Connecticut-bound senior won the 1,500-meter run in 4:55.83, more than 20 seconds clear of Marcellus junior Laura Quercia (5:17.13) and the rest of the field. In the 3,000-meter run, Lasnicki dominated again, earning a top time of 10:21.24 to top another Marcellus runner, Rachel Garn, by more than 46 seconds. Lasnicki wasn’t done, either, as she would go to Saturday’s Star Wars Invitational at Cicero-North Syracuse’s Bragman Stadium (site of the state track meet this June) and nearly won twice. First, in the 3,000, Lasnicki stayed with Johnson City’s Lauren Mullins most of the way, only to see Mullins get away in the final two laps to prevail in 10:00.40. Lasnicki took second – but her time of 10:04.72 set a new personal mark for that distance. As the meet came to a close, Lasnicki returned for the 1,500 – and no one would beat her this time. In a time of 4:51 flat, Lasnicki beat Clarence’s Katelyn Tresino (5:02.68) by more than 11 seconds, plus topped a large contingent of top local runners.
