In the middle of the school recess, the Jamesville-DeWitt and East Syracuse-Minoa girls track and field teams both would find success during last Wednesday’s Tully Spring Break Invitational. On the Red Rams’ side, Natalie Mannion and Amanda Tan went 1-2 in the triple jump, Mannion winning with a leap of 32 feet 5 1/2 inches and Tan (31 feet 1 inch) taking second as Liz Pieri got third place. Mannion, Liz Pieri, Courtney Ellis and Taylor-Rae Danforth teamed to win the 4×400 relay in 4:20.7, with a second J-D quartet of Rebecca Doss, Margaret Fuller, Linsay Royer and Katy Pieri claiming the runner-up spot in 4:28.46. In the 4×100, Danforth, Tan, Marae Tearney and Sierra Vasiliou won in 52.76 seconds as, again, a second J-D quartet that included Pieri and Royer got second in 55.26 seconds. Royer was victorious in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.11 as Doss (1:05.85) finished fourth. Katy Pieri was third in the pole vault (7 feet 6 inches) as Ellis took third (1:13.35) in the 400-meter hurdles and Marae Tearney got second (13.54 seconds) in the 100-meter dash. Fuller cleared 4 feet 10 inches for second place in the high jump. Sierra Vasiliou would win the long jump, going 15 feet 7 3/4 inches as Mannion (14 feet 9 1/4 inches) finished fourth, and Vasiliou threw the shot put 31 feet 11 inches for second place, just ahead of teammate Olivia Costa (29 feet 11 1/2 inches) in third. Ameena Dye gave J-D a fourth-place time of 11:11.29 in the 3,000-meter run, with Danforth claiming fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.13 seconds) and Danielle Doss earning 2,112 points for third place in the pentathlon. Tan, Mannion, Liz Pieri and Rebecca Doss were second in the 1,600 sprint medley (4:28.57) as Doss also took fourth in the 400-meter dash. Ally Fox added a fourth (28.66 seconds) in the 200-meter dash. ESM was second in the 4×800 relay as Cara Andrianos, Meg Crandell, Grace Maring and Amanda Reidman posted a time of 10:59.03. The Spartans were also third in the 4×1,600 relay (26:38.20) and fifth in the 4×100.
