Staying active while school was out, the Cazenovia girls track and field team found success during last Wednesday’s Tully Spring Break Invitational. Paige Biviano went to the front in the 100-meter high hurdles. She was the only sub-18 second qualifier (17.40, to be exact) and, in the finals, Biviano ran into a stiff breeze and still won in 17.28 seconds, with Tully’s Casey Cole (17.76) the runner-up, nearly half a second behind. Also, Biviano finished third in the long jump (15 feet 1/4 inch), fourth in the 100-meter dash (13.77 seconds) and took sixth in the pole vault, clearing 6 feet 6 inches. The Lakers’ 4×1,600 relay quartet of Emma Wolsey, Rae Tobey, Sarah Fellows and Michelle Karker took second place in 24:50.65 as Tully won in 23:49.82. Tobey would, on her own, finish sixth in the 3,000-meter run (11:40.75). Laura Fitch cleared 4 feet 8 inches to place fourth in the high jump and also was sixth (1:14.84) in the 400-meter hurdles. Margaret Wolsey was sixth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:52.76 and Christy Tainter had a sixth-place shot put toss of 28 feet 3 1/2 inches. Both Cazenovia teams are back in action Wednesday, at Solvay, in a three-way meet also involving Jordan-Elbridge.
