With some major early-season challenges behind them, the West Genesee girls lacrosse team could settle down into the routine of lopsided results against overmatched foes. Even a solid team like Liverpool could not handle the relentless approach of the Wildcats in Tuesday night’s game in Camillus, as WG prevailed by a 15-5 margin. WG averaged a goal for every two minutes of playing time in the first half, leading to a 13-3 margin and a chance to ease up in the late going. Karlyn Tupper and Morgan Corso each produced four goals, with Katey Hart finding the net twice. Mel Murphy, Kara Datellas and Lauren Michaels each had one goal and one assist, while Emily Tripodi and Shannon Hawley also scored. Bre Hudgins, Erica Geremia and Julie Dussing found the assist column. Two nights later, at Sunnycrest Field on Syracuse’s North Side, the Wildcats bashed the combined Henninger/Nottingham squad 21-6, notching 14 of those goals in a first-half blitz that assured another easy win. Tupper (four goals, two assists) and Hart (two goals, four assists) both had six points as Shannon Hawley stepped in with her own three-goal hat trick. Corso, Michaels, Geremia, Datellas and Bridget Alberts each scored twice, with Alberts adding a pair of assists. Jamie Maestri and Mary Ferranti also had goals as Murphy earned two assists. After going to Central Square on Tuesday, the Wildcats return home for its annual tournament on Friday and Saturday, attracting Carthage, Canandaigua and Good Counsel, a visiting team from Maryland. Games start at 5 p.m. On Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
