Moving to 2-1 on the season, the Liverpool boys tennis team needed every point in doubles to overcome struggles in singles and beat Central Square 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Mike Schneider and Ian Swenson began that work, beating Mike Allen and Will Galbraith 6-1, 6-1 Brandon Fernandes and Luke Donigan earned a 6-0, 6-4 sweep over Bara Paura and Noah Roberts. Elsewhere, Steve Schneider and Kelly Pare fought past Devin Bush and Derek Lederle 6-4, 6-2, while Eammon Vaughn and Noura Hammadi beat Jason Ashley and Josh Wheeler 6-3, 6-4. By contrast, the Warriors lost every singles match to the Red Hawks. Even when Anthony Taormina won the first set 6-0, Chris Nichols rallied to beat him 6-4, 6-3. Joe Corcoran and Chris Brais had straight-set defeats. Cicero-North Syracuse never got close to a point against Fayetteville-Manlius, whose 7-0 sweep was the team’s 179th consecutive meet win. The closest matches saw Mark Fallinski fall to Mike Mintskovsky 6-3, 6-1, and the doubles team of Dan Greco and Brandon Collins fall to Jimmy Miron and Danny Miron 6-2, 6-4.
