Both of the Jamesville-DeWitt track and field teams jumped all over Fulton in last Tuesday’s OHSL Freedom division opener, with the girls Red Rams nearly getting a shutout. That margin was 137-4 and featured, among other things, Liz Pieri sweeping the 200-meter dash (27.5 seconds) and 400-meter dash (1:03.7), plus Natalie Mannion going 16 feet 2 1/2 inches in the high jump and 32 feet 3 inches in the triple jump. Courtney Ellis added two wins in the 100 hurdles (17.3 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:17.2) as other titles went to Marae Tearney (100-meter dash), Paige Morrow (1,500 meters), Eileen Cody (3,000 meters), Rebecca Doss (800 meters), Danielle Doss (pole vault), Sierra Vasilou (discus) and Margaret Fuller (high jump). J-D also swept the 4×100 (52.2 seconds), 4×400 (4:21.5) and 4×800 (10:44.8) relays as Mannion, Tearney, Cody, Ameena Dye, Rebecca Doss, Liz Pieri, Amanda Tan, Linsay Royer and Katy Pieri all took part. The boys Red Rams beat Fulton 104-37, a meet where David Salbert took off 45 feet 7 1/2 inches in the triple jump and won the long jump, too, going 20 feet 11 1/2 inches. Brent Fallon was first in both the discus (119 feet 5 inches) and shot put (45 feet 7 inches) as Ira Griffin took the 100 (11.4 seconds) and 200 (22.5 seconds) sprints. Bumkoth Jiak ran 800 meters in a swift 1:56.1. Will Sterriker (110 high hurdles), Austin Davis (mile) and Alex Wilmot (pole vault) also won, with the victorious 4×100 (46.0 seconds), 4×400 (3:49.9) and 4×800 (9:13.1) relays featuring Jiak, Wilmot, Sterriker, Salbert, Davis,Tom Wilson, Tim Kendrick, Ira Griffin, Mike Griffin and Tyler Petersen.
