The Skaneateles boys tennis team did not face much drama in its opening match of the 2010 season, neatly disposing of Jordan-Elbridge last Monday afternoon in a 5-0 shutout. Here’s how simple it was. The Lakers’ singles trio of Joey Robinson, Ethan Wilcox and Ryan Sayko each won 6-0, 6-0 matches — Robinson over Conner O’Brien, Wilcox over Josh Gallaro and Sayko over Nick Gallaro. Over in doubles, Nick Simmons and Wil Bolton stayed a bit longer, but beat Nick Pierlioni and Kyle Sherman 6-1, 6-2. Grant Bille and Shiva Sharma earned a 6-1, 6-0 sweep of Matt Sullivan and Elliot Kline. Things turned around on Thursday afternoon, when the Lakers met Westhill and took a 3-2 loss to the Warriors. Robinson, who beat Cole Kelly 6-1, 6-2, and Wilcox, who dominated Andre Remillard 6-0, 6-1, had little trouble. But Sasha Darovshihk lost to Joe Sabastano 6-3, 6-2, while Sharma and Danny Glaza fell to Lee Betota and Tom Missert 7-5, 6-3. Grant Bille and Colby VanTyle had a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Dan Vednais and Nate Chapin.
