It proved a long spring for the Chittenango boys lacrosse team in 2009 as it could not record a single victory in 17 tries. That is something the Bears don’t have to worry about in 2010 — not after Wednesday night, when it took Bishop Ludden apart, doing it primary damage in the first half of an 18-2 romp over the Gaelic Knights. Chittenango burned Ludden with six unanswered goals in the first quarter and maintained its all-out push until it had gathered up a 13-1 halftime advantage. Before it was done, Craig Martin had piled up three goals and four assists, with Luke Bicknell contributing four goals and two assists. Will Berry gathered up five assists to go with his pair of tallies as Derrick Furco (three goals, two assists) and Tyler Chmiliewski (three goals, one assist) picked up hat tricks, too. Tom Connelly and Jake Smith each had one goal and one assist as Caleb Mannix earned his own goal. At home throughout the early part of April, the Bears get to greet Whitesboro and Clinton next week, hoping to build on what it has done so far.
