Madison County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the discovery of the body of a 19 year old teen found in the woods of the Town of Sullivan Park, Chittenango. Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Chittenango Village Police Department found 19 year old Daryl Kingerly of Dyke Road, Chittenango deceased in a heavily wooded terrain in the Town of Sullivan Park, Madison County Sheriff Allen Riley said. Kingerly was reported missing on Sunday at about 5 p.m. by a family member who was concerned for his welfare. His unattended vehicle was found parked in the Town of Sullivan public parking lot. A foot search was unsuccessful. Deputies were able to obtain information that Kingerly had his personal cellular phone with him. A coordinated effort involving Sheriff’s deputies, Madison County 911 Dispatchers and the ATT Cellular Service were able to utilize GPS technology to locate Kingerly in a heavily wooded area about half a mile from the parking lot. Kingerly was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Rural Metro Ambulance Service. The Chittenango Fire Department assisted deputies in removing Kingerly from the woods. Kingerly was transported to the Onondaga County Medical Examiners Office, Syracuse. According to Sheriff Riley and the Medical Examiner’s Office, the death does not appear to have been the result of criminal activity. The investigation is continuing.
