Each of the four large Syracuse city boys high school indoor track and field teams would find points during last Tuesday’s Section III championship meet at Manley Field House. Corcoran finished third in the Class AA division, earning 57 points. Only Liverpool (114 points) and Baldwinsville (71 points) fared better. Xavier Canty gave the Cougars a win in the pole vault, the only AA competitor to clear 11 feet 6 inches. Jalen Sanders was third in the high jump (5 feet 10 inches), ahead of Canty in fifth place. Sanders also got fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. The Cougars’ 4×400 relay team of Corey Graham, Chris Graham, Jordan Moore and Antoine Tearney finished second in 3:38.79 as Liverpool won in 3:35.42. Moore, Tearney, Jerry Adams and Tyler Carter were third in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:36.34. Chris Graham went on to take fourth (1:27.96) in the 600-meter run and help Jake Copich, Xavier Mangham and Colin O’Neill take fourth (8:59.99) in the 4×800 relay. Jerry Adams was third in the 55-meter dash in 6.77 seconds, while Antoine Tearney got fourth (8.59 seconds) in the 55-meter hurdles. Moore was fourth in the 300-meter dash in 38.28 seconds. Henninger, finished with 16 points in Class AA, all from University of Albany-bound senior Cole King. He finished second in the triple jump, going 44 feet 1/2 inch, and also took second in the high jump by clearing 6 feet 2 inches, just behind B’ville’s Brian Kane (6 feet 4 inches). In Class A, Nottingham landed in third place with 52 points, while Fowler tied for sixth place with 28 points as Jamesville-DeWitt (114 points) prevailed. Werdi Mugaya prevailed in the pole vault for the Bulldogs, clearing 9 feet. Nottingham went 1-2 in the shot put as Robert Howard won with a toss of 46 feet 8 1/2 inches and Xavier Dupree (40 feet 10 inches) finished second. Polich Anyek cleared 6 feet for third place in the high jump. The Bulldogs’ 4×400 relay team of Mugaya, Tom Bayavuye, Delvon Sullivan and Patrick VonLueninck was third in 3:53.29. Alphonse Mugisha was sixth in the 3,200-meter run and helped the Bulldogs take sixth in the 4×800, too. Tasheen Keith finished sixth in the triple jump. Fowler’s Jamal Reed was third in the 55-meter dash in 6.85 seconds as Nottingham’s Sean Adams (6.93 seconds) took fourth, adding to a fourth he already got in the long jump. Reed also was third (20 feet 1 1/4 inches) in the long jump. Shawon Rivers was fourth in the 600 (1:31.24). Rivers, Reed, Darius Hayden and Peter Raymond-Smiedy took third in the 4×200 relay in 1:39.35. All this followed the Feb. 3 girls Section III meet, also held at Manley. Corcoran had 28 points for sixth place in the Class AA meet, with Henninger earning 23 points for seventh place. Corcoran’s 4×200 team of Angelice Tearney, Gwendolyn Thomas, Ashley Ruffin and Imani Williams claimed third place in 1:53.62. Henninger was fourth in 1:56.26. Tearney and Ruffin were third and fourth, respectively, in the 55-meter dash. Thomas got fifth in the 55 hurdles Henninger’s Deja Thomas got third in the triple jump (34 feet 1 3/4 inches), fourth in the 55 hurdles and sixth in the long jump. Tirene Millhouse added a third in the 300-meter dash in 44.03 seconds and was fifth in the 55 sprint. Fowler gained 23 points in the Class A meet, where Kiamisha Tucker took second in the 55-meter dash in 7.93 seconds and Anjou Perryman was sixth. They helped the Falcons get third in the 4×200 relay in 1:57.23. Tre’shel Terpening was fourth in the 3,000-meter run (5:30.05).
