Preparing itself for a shot at the OHSL Liberty division regular-season title, the Bishop Ludden girls basketball team proved quite impressive in Wednesday night’s game against Rome Free Academy, rolling to a 69-43 victory over the Black Knights. Pushing the tempo from the start, the Gaelic Knights had an 18-10 lead through one period. With the margin 31-19 at halftime, Ludden refused to back off, continuing to expand its lead thanks to familiar faces — and some new ones, too. Ashley Cianfriglia was familiar, as her 23 points included three 3-pointers. Kayla Kibling produced 12 points, while Kristen Ryan had nine points and Bella Knapp eight points. Nicole Granteed and Kelly Granteed, both of whom move up from the JV ranks mid-season, added more depth, as Nicole had six points and Megan five points. Next week, Ludden (11-3, 10-2 league) meets Marcellus and Jordan-Elbridge, both of them capable of derailing the Gaelic Knights’ league title bid.
