Both of the Skaneateles indoor track and field teams would find more success during last Saturday’s CNY Indoor Track Association meet at SUNY-Cortland’s Lusk Field House. With 57 points, the girls Lakers were third in the afternoon session, trailing only Cicero-North Syracuse (114 points) and Liverpool (88.5 points). And the boys Lakers earned fourth place, picking up 35 points as Baldwinsville (106.5 points) went to the top. In relays, the girls Lakers had no equal, getting 24 points and two victories. Eileen Ford, Emma Ford, Amanda Gray and Grace Kelly worked together to win the 4×400 in a time of 4:16.47, which beat Mexico (4:20.04) by more than three seconds. Moving to the 4×200 relay, Emma Ford joined Victoria Sakal, Cassie Berg and Sophie Gorman as Skaneateles won big again, its time of 1:53.83 more than three seconds clear of runner-up Jordan-Elbridge (1:56.99). Danielle Mazzeo, Ellis Van Slyke, Carly Strods and Jane Gaffney were fourth in the 4×800 in 10:50.46. Sakal claimed her own title in the 55-meter dash in 7.62 seconds, comfortably ahead of Hannah Anthes (Liverpool, 7.82) at the wire. Strods, on her own, got second in the 1,000-meter run (3:17.59) as Madeline Adams earned second place in the 3,200-meter run in 11:39.54. Eileen Ford was third in the 300-meter dash (45.60 seconds). On the boys end, Calvin Davis dominated the 1,000, as his time of 2:38.15 was more than eight seconds clear of J-E’s Greg Bader. Davis then teamed with Sean Cooper, Xander Edwards and Tim Lewis to finish second in the 4×200 relay (1:39.75), edged out by Liverpool (1:39.36) at the wire. Lewis earned second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 10 inches. Ian Smith, Taylor Weneth, Colin Wentworth and Nate Schwab were fourth in the 4×400 relay in 4:01.04. Cooper was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.41 seconds) as Edwards was sixth in the 55-meter dash. Davis had a memorable week, starting Jan. 17 at the Molloy Stanner Games at the Armory in New York City. Competing in the varsity mile, Davis posted a time of 4:28.86 that was just enough to beat Chaminade’s Will Slattery (4:29.02) for the top spot. The girls Lakers were ninth in the 4×200 relay in 1:52.44 as Lewis took ninth in the boys high jump, clearing 5 feet 10 inches, the same height he would reach at Cortland.
