Camillus Town Councilor Jim Salanger announced last week that, after two years of effort, the New York State Department of Transportation had agreed to reduce the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph in the Onondaga Road School section of Onondaga Road. Salanger said the reduction had been driven by residents’ concerns for children walking to and from the school, and the tendency of drivers to speed in the area. “The fear became that a car would jump the curb,” Salanger said. The signs had not been changed to notify drivers of the lower speed limit.
