Right after the calendar turned to 2010, both of Cazenovia’s indoor track and field teams were back at Colgate University for two different meets in a span of five days. In the latter of those two events, the girls Lakers nearly won Wednesday’s John DiMao Invitational, earning 89.5 points, just behind Rome Free Academy’s top total of 91 points. Paige Biviano prevailed twice in individual events, covering the 55-meter hurdles in 9.50 seconds to edge Utica Proctor’s Pony Sokiri (9.54), then clearing 7 feet 6 inches in the pole vault with fewer misses than Clinton’s Melissa Terrazas. Biviano also was second in the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet. Hollie Marcelle ran to second in the 1,500-meter event (5:23.06) and fifth in the 800-meter run, while Jillian Vogl landed a second-place time of 44.96 seconds in the 300-meter dash along with a third (8.05 seconds) in the 55-meter hurdles. Molly Woodworth took second in the shot put, tossing it 28 feet 7 1/2 inches, as Meghan Liddell earned third (1:26.09) in the 500-meter run. Cazenovia’s quartet of Vogl, Woodworth, Katie Kleine and Audrey Bowers teamed up for second place in the 4×200 relay in 1:55.87. Gabby Nunez and Brittany Phillips were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the weight throw, with Michelle McGinnis tying for fifth in the pole vault. By contrast, the boys Lakers only had seven points in the DiMao meet, most of it from Xavier Coates, Zach Bender, Dylan Muller and Forest Blanchard taking third place in the 4×200 relay in 1:45.82. Dan Pati was sixth in the mile in 5:00.50.
