The 14th annual Local Landmarks Day sponsored by the Morrisville Historic Preservation Commission will celebrate with pomp and living history the dedication of the new fountain at 1 p.m. Saturday Sept. 26 at the village park on Main and Cedar streets.
The new fountain, symbol of Morrisville's famous 19th-century fountains, was funded in great part by Beverly Anderson Urbancic, who remembers fondly the fountains of Morrisville when she grew up there. Urbancic, a resident of Sydney, Australia, for the last 40 years, will make a special trip to Morrisville for the dedication. She will be toasted by the village Mayor Michelle Forward, and others.
The festivities kick off with the Morrisville History Players performing a dramatic script involving real historical village characters and their memories of the four fountains that graced Morrisville in the 19th century. Light refreshments will follow the dedication.
The event is free and open to the public. For further information, contact Carolyn Gerakopoulos at 684-3533.
